LEATHER JEWELLERY CARE

Avoid excessive heat and exposure to moisture, which can affect the overall look of leather accessories. When not in use, store your item in its protective dust bag. Remove your leather when showering, washing hands, and swimming and avoid getting it wet in heavy rain as this can rot and even make the leather crack. Store your leather in a cool, dry place when not wearing it. Do not place it in a sealed bag, as it may cause mildew to grow.

SILVER JEWELLERY CARE

Sterling silver jewellery is a timeless investment. However, to keep your jewellery looking shiny and new in years to come, special care is required.

·Avoid direct contact with water and chemical products, e.g., creams and perfume. Skin and hair products such as body lotions, perfumes and creams can react adversely with jewellery, causing precious metals to tarnish and erode.

·It is advisable to apply any cosmetic products before putting on jewellery.

·Jewellery should not be worn in the shower or bath or when bathing in a hot tub, pool or the sea. Chlorine can damage, discolour, or erode precious metals and gemstones.

· As 925 sterling silver is a relatively soft metal, it can be easily exposed to collisions with other surfaces, which creates dents and small wounds. Scratches and minor bulks are not considered a defect but a sign of normal wear and tear. However, to minimise the damage from knocks, scratches or sharp blows, it is advisable to remove all jewellery when partaking in any physical or labour-intensive activities. For this reason, it is also advisable not to wear jewellery when asleep at night.

HOW TO STORE YOUR SILVER JEWELLERY

·Store all jewellery in a clean, dry place away from direct sun exposure and other atmospheric elements. Do not store jewellery next to radiators, windowsills or in rooms with excess condensation, such as bathrooms or wet rooms. Damp and hot conditions can cause precious metals to discolour, tarnish and erode, and damage gemstones. Silver is susceptible to tarnishing.

·Keep all jewellery in separate cotton pouches to prevent pieces from rubbing and scratching against one another. Storing silver or gold jewellery in individual, air-tight plastic bags can help reduce or avoid the effects of this

·

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR SILVER JEWELLERY?

Sterling silver can tarnish over time when exposed to the open air. Tarnishing is a natural process that can be cleaned.

·Clean your jewellery regularly, but do not use abrasive cleaners such as toothpaste or baking soda. See a jewellery store to purchase your jewellery cleaning products instead.

· Why? When dirt, lotions, hair spray, and, yes, even dry skin build up in and on your jewellery, it becomes abrasive and can pressure your stone settings, causing additional unnecessary wear. Remember that not all jewellery is alike, and different precious metals and gemstones require extra care.

 GOLD JEWELLERY CARE

Gold is a soft metal: while gold has a shine and a lustre it’s also a soft metal. This makes it susceptible to dings, scratches, and dents. Be mindful of your gold rings and bracelets while you wear them, and remove them while playing any high-contact sports.

Chlorine is gold’s worst enemy: with repeated exposure, the chlorine will weaken your gold jewellery’s structure and eventually lead to it breaking. Take your jewellery off before getting in a pool or spa.

Remove while cleaning: household cleaners with acids or abrasives will damage your jewellery’s finish. Remove your jewellery before doing domestic chores to avoid getting your Jewellery damaged.

Put your jewellery on last when getting ready:  Perfume, hairspray, and lotions can damage your gold. Be sure to put these things on before your jewellery to limit the exposure.

Take jewellery off before bathing 0r showering.

Chemicals in shower gel and bath foams can affect metals and even loosen some stones, so we recommend removing Jewellery showing or bathing.

Also, wearing jewellery while you wash can lead to a buildup of soap, which will cause a film on your jewellery.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR GOLD JEWELLERY

When worn regularly, your gold jewellery is exposed to skin oils, sweat, dust, makeup, and more. We recommend you have your Jewellery cleaned professionally every year.  To keep your jewellery shiny, use a gold jewellery polishing cloth. Do not use a paper towel or tissue, as these can scratch your jewellery. During your regular jewellery cleanings, look for any damage or loose stones. Cleaning damaged pieces can only make the problem worse.

HOW TO STORE YOUR GOLD JEWELLERY

After you’ve worn and cleaned your gold jewellery for the day, the next step in taking proper care of it is to store it properly.

Use a jewellery box: a clean, dry, fabric-lined box is the best option.

Wrap each piece in a soft cloth: If you don’t have a jewellery box, save those free phone screen clothes and use the extras to wrap each piece of your jewellery.

Store pieces separately: this prevents jewellery from tangling or scratching each other.
